Let This Be a Lesson

Guys, this is what happens when you don't treat your woman right:
She will mess you up!

Haha. Just kidding. Terry had surgery on his nost this morning...again. He had almost the exact same surgery last December and it didn't work the way it should, so he had it redone this morning. But this time, the doctor took a little piece of cartilage out of his ear, thus the  head gear and gauze he is sporting in the picture. The recovery should take about a week and the doctor said most people complain more about their ear hurting than their nose. We'll see. Let the recovery begin.

Pictures are worth 1000 Words

Wow, I really need to make a New Year's Resolution to update the blog at least once a week. But I won't. Because I don't want to break it within the first week of the year. I will try to get better. Sometimes I just feel so overwhelmed because I know I need to be putting more pictures up, but it's just a pain and a little time consuming to download them to the computer and then download them here.  Here are a few from over the last month or so that I thought were worth sharing.

What the crap???

So, I just had to post on this because I'm so irritated. Rowdy went missing yesterday. We came home and Duke was in the backyard, but Rowdy was MIA. So, at about 9:30 pm, Terry was in the neighborhood posting signs that he was missing. They simply said "Missing small white dog. Call 972-979-7381" I got a call this morning at 9:30ish from a guy saying he had found a little white dog with an ATM on his collar. Rowdy's collar is an Aggie collar (gig em!), so I knew it had to be him since we didn't post anything on the sign about his collar. The guy said he noticed there was a reward offered. I said "no, I don't think my husband posted anything about a reward, but let me ask him. Can I get your number and he will give you a call back shortly" So, he gave me his number, and I immediately called Terry , who in turn called the number I gave him...which was totally a wrong number. So, we waited for him to call us back. I mean, the guy has our dog, has made it clear that he is expecting a reward, and gave us a wrong number to call him back. The number he called me from showed up as a withheld number.  So, finally at about 7:15pm, he calls back and Terry talked to him. Again, he mentioned something about the reward. So Terry said "How much do I need to pay you to get my dog back? How about $50?"...to which the guy replied "Well, I live all the way in Dallas so that's a long way to drive".  So Terry told him he would pay him $100, which the guy said was fine. They agreed to meet at the WalMart parking lot in Rockwall and when Terry asked him what kind of car he was driving, the guy said "I'll just call you when I get there" WTH????  Terry called the cops to have a cop there when he met the guy. It all just sounds so not right to me. And of course me being the way I am, I'm freaking out that these people came in our yard and took him, hoping we would put signs up. Maybe it's my paranoia, but it totally freaks me out.

So, my thought process goes like this:
1. Why do you have my dog if you live in Dallas? Why would you pick a dog up out here (because I know Rowdy didn't run all the way to Dallas) and drive him all the way back to your home in Dallas?
2. If you live in Dallas, how did you see the missing dog signs?
3. If you have my dog and you obviously want a reward, why did you give me a phony number to call you back?

It just all seems really, really shady to me. I'm just praying that Terry comes back with Rowdy and nothing crazy happens at the WalMart parking lot.

Update: Terry did come home with Rowdy after forking over $100. And we had a long stern talk with Rowdy letting him know that the next time, he better hope we have $100 to spare :)

A Boy and his Night Night

I don't know if I've ever mentioned that our boys both have the same blanket (we call it a night night around her). As a matter of fact, all the kids between Terry's sisters and ours have the same blanket...except Nicole, whose is of course pink. All 6 of the others are blue. Some are definitely more worn than others. And it's amazing how those kids can all tell whose is whose. We could put them all in a pile, and they would be able to pick theirs. Kind of cool.
Anyways, Griffin and Grayson both love their night night. It's one of the few words Griffin says right now..."nigh nigh". It's so sweet. I pick him up from school and grab it out of the cubby and he immediately grabs it, says "nigh nigh" and rubs his face in it.
Yesterday when he woke up from his nap, he was all about rolling around in it, so of course I had to take some sweet pics.

Sweetness

I just love the stage that Grayson is at right now. He is so sweet and cuddly. Last night he tucked me into bed, gave me a kiss and then ran off. I shouted "I love you" and heard a trailing little voice say "love you too". So sweet. And he always wants "just 1 more kiss"...honestly, this is a stalling tactic for him because he does it at bedtime and when we drop him off for school. But, it's still so sweet...who could say no to that? Last night he woke up around 11:00 or so and was yelling for daddy (as usual) and when Terry went in there, he said "Lay with me a couple while". Just so sweet. Man, I love that big boy.

About Time

Our house is officially bottle free. Griffin hasn't been taking a bottle for a good week now. Luckily, he seems to like milk and is pretty good with drinking out of a sippy cup. I was a little nervous to give him regular milk since he had such bad eczema when he was little and had to be on soy formula. Thank goodness that seems to have passed. But oh.my.goodness. When he wakes up in the morning, he is the crankiest little person I've ever seen. For breakfast, he's been eating yogurt and fruit, but geez....getting him to wait that entire minute that it takes to open it up and get a spoon must be torture for him because he acts like a crazy baby. I think I may just start going in his room with a cracker when I go get him out of bed just so he has something to put in his mouth. I didn't know my wee man could be such a turkey, but apparently he's not real happy that he doesn't get that bottle in the morning. This too shall pass.

Has it been that long?

Since I last made a post? Wow. Well, I guess the more impressive thing is that there really is nothing new to post anyway....that's a little sad. Halloween has come and gone and I haven't even uploaded a pic of the boys in their costumes...bad mama! Grayson had a great time trick or treating. Griffin rode in the stroller eating pizza the whole time and then threw it all up when he got home :(  Poor thing had some kind of virus so he had been running fever (thank you for Motrin and Tylenol). Then when I fed him his bottle right before bed, he got a little gagged on it and everything he had eaten came up. I feel so helpless for babies when that happens. Luckily, he's getting back to himself....a little whiney, but much better than he was. Terry was sitting in the back of the van the other day on the way to a Halloween carnival and snapped this pic:
Buzz and Woody holding hands...it just melts my heart. Grayson is so sweet to his little brother and I know Griffin just loves him to pieces. It will be so much fun to watch them grow up together. Man, I love those boys!!

Grayson & Griffin's Rooms

Today over at Kelly's Korner, she is featuring nurseries/kids rooms so I am going to participate for the 1st time ever. Our boys' rooms are definitely my favorite rooms in the house.
Grayson's room is Noah's ark because I always knew from when I was a teenager that I wanted my 1st baby's room to be Noah's ark...you know, because it's so uncommon :)
Griffin's room is an ocean. I love the way it turned out. The pictures below are old (as evidenced by the changing table and crib and rocker still in Grayson's room) Those items are all in Griffin's room and the twin bed that is in the picture of Griffin's room is actually Grayson's 'big boy bed'.
I love these rooms and will be so sad when we move out of this house.

PAAARRR-TAAAAAY!!!

This past Saturday we had Griffin's 1st birthday party. I think everyone had a good time and I think it turned out pretty darn cute if I do say so.  I went with a Dr Seuss theme just because Dr Seuss is so fun and I had a vision of a candy table that I wanted to make. Other than the whole fiasco with the cake, I think it went off without a hitch. After work on Friday, I went to pick the cake up and was very upset that it wasn't what I wanted. I had dropped off a picture of exactly what I wanted and was told that it wouldn't be a problem. A Cat in the Hat hat....seems simple enough. Well, when I got there, it looked more like a volcano with red and white stripes, not a hat. This mama was not happy. I didn't have much choice though...I needed a cake. Saturday morning I got up to get all the food ready and set up the candy table. The last thing I was going to do was set out the cake. Well, when I opened the box, the cake had collapsed. That's right, collapsed. This mama was REALLY unhappy now. Luckily, I had ordered some cupcakes as well. And my sister (aka Aunt Bunny) was nice enough to run to Kroger and get wee man an itty bitty smash cake. Here are a few pics to sum up the big day:
"Sweets & Treats" Table-oreos, goldfish, candy stix, animal crackers, gumballs, chocolate covered almonds, dum dums, skittles, M&M's, gummy worms/bears, laffy taffys, cupcakes

Food Table-green eggs & ham sandwiches, cheese & crackers, pasta salad, chips & dip

Big Brother cheesin' for the camera

Birthday Boy

Too bad Griffin won't remember this party. The 1st one is always so much fun. And so emotional for me. I can't believe he will be 1 tomorrow!! Happy birthday sweet little boy!

Gymnastics & Finally Picnic Weather

Have I mentioned that I win tons of stuff through the radio? Well, I do. My latest treasure was a 4 pack of VIP tickets to go to the Progressive Gymnastics and Skating Spectacular. It was featuring several notable gymnasts and ice skaters (including Nastia Liukin & Evan Lysocek) and the featured musical performance was by LoneStar. I was really looking forward to it and was so sure that Grayson was just going to love it! We decided that it was best if we didn't take Griffin since it didn't start until 7pm on a Sunday, so instead, we traded kids with Terry's sister. She took Griffin, and we took our niece. Well, apparently it wasn't so exciting to them. They did pretty good for a little bit, but we were in a suite with alot of room, so they just wanted to get up and run around after a while. I guess it was a little silly on my part to think they would sit through the show. They did enjoy just running around in the hall though. And we got lots of questions about our twins :)  These 2 are only 8 months apart, so I could see how some people might think they were twins. All in all, the part of the show that we did get to see was good, and we got to enjoy the company of 2 sweet babies.

This week has had awesome weather, so we have taken advantage a few times by going to the park for picnics. This is the type of weather that I wish we had every day of the year. Today was the day that I finally remembered my camera and was able to take a few pics.

Hopefully the rest of the week will be just as beautiful!!

What a slacker!

Wow, it's been almost a week since I've made a post. I really am not trying to be a slacker; I have just been so busy at work that by the time I get home, we pretty much eat dinner and put the boys down. Last week we did manage to take the boys to the park twice before bedtime. We had a nice picnic both times and then Terry took Grayson around the pond for some rock throwing. The weather this week was gorgeous, so we just had to take advantage of it. It was pretty funny watching Griffin crawl over and steal Grayson's food. Grayson didn't think so, but we enjoyed watching it. That baby is all over the place these days and has a fit when we don't put him on the ground. I can't believe he is almost 1 already. In 11 days, he will officially be a toddler.
And on a random note (because that's how I am), I am sitting here watching the Golden Girls. I never get tired of this show. Dorothy is my favorite and I was so sad last year when she died :( Is anyone else (besides my sister) as in love with this show as me? Doubtful, but there might be a few of you out there, so I was just wondering :)

So Cute

We got both our boys back today. Unfortunately, Griffin has a virus or something. He has been running a low fever and just doesn't seem to be himself. And grandmother says that he woke up ALOT last night. Hopefully that isn't the case tonight. Praying that it's just a little virus and will have run its course by tomorrow morning. Poor little man.
My parents brought Grayson back at around 4pm this afternoon. I don't know if I've mentioned it on here before, but my dad used to rodeo and my parents are definitely country folk. That being said, this is what Grayson looked like when he got home:

I will never dress him like this myself, but I do have to say that he was pretty darn cute!!

What happens in Vegas...

really does stay in Vegas. I forgot my stinkin' camera, so I don't even have any pics of all the fun we had :( We went with some good friends of ours and left Wednesday evening. Just got back home about 30 minutes ago. Surprisingly, we did awful this time. I usually at least break even, and Terry usually does pretty well. I lost $70, and all Terry would say is that he "lost quite a bit more than that"...I don't want to know the exact number. We had fun though :)
We miss our boys terribly, and I'm pretty sure that our friends will no longer want to go anywhere with us. We are definitely "those people"....you know the ones. The ones who, if they aren't calling to check on their kids are telling stories about them or quoting them. Yep, that's us. We can't wait until we get both of our boys back tomorrow.
And, on a random note...while we were at the airport in Vegas, we noticed that UT lost to UCLA BIG time. Number 7 team lost to an unranked team. Terry is guessing they will drop to number 8 in rank next week :)

Some Randoms

Wow, I'm already slacking on the blog. I was told today that I need to get with it (thanks for the kick in the rear, Tori). It's been very busy at work this past week and I expect that it will remain that way for a while. I've been working at a different office and tend to be there earlier and later everyday. I haven't been able to pick the boys up from school for a week now, but it should just be temporary, and I am receiving a few benefits in the meantime :)
On another note, Terry and I are going to Vegas this week for a few days....a much needed few days off! We are going with another couple so it should be interesting to say the least. Grayson will stay with my parents and Griffin will be with Terry's parents. I suspect that we are approaching the last times that the two will be split up. Terry really doesn't like that Grayson and Griffin are going to be in separate places. I don't so much mind it; Grayson will have fun riding the tractor and playing golf with my parents. Those things would be hard for them to do if Griffin were there. And Griffin will get to show off his crawling skills at grandmother and papaw's house. And reconfirm what a sweet baby he is. Before we know it, they will both be going to the same place, but for now, it's ok.
And on another, totally random note, I got a gallon of milk at Target for $0.99! They said on the news that the last time that happened was when LBJ was in office. I thought about doing what my mom used to do and buy multiple gallons and freeze them. Then I remembered that I don't live 45 minutes from civilization. And I'm married to Terry...I can just imagine what he would do if he found a gallon of milk in the freezer.

Well, it started

Last night after we put Grayson to bed, we saw him come around the corner about 5 minutes later. Up until last night, he always stayed put..even if he didn't go to sleep for another 30 or 45 minutes. He has figured out how to shimmy around the bed rail and get down. Which means he got in trouble for getting out of bed 6 times after we laid him down :(  Finally, he went to sleep. At about 3:00 am I got up to go to the bathroom, and when I came back, he was in my spot! It's kind of weird that he decided to wander in while I was on a potty break. I almost crushed his skinny, short leg before I realized what had happened. So, we let him lay with us for a while and Terry finally had to take him back to his bed. That boy is a rough sleeper..I may have some bruises on my back by the end of the day. Well, about an hour later he was back at the side of our bed. I'm not gonna lie...it kind of creeps me out when I wake up and someone is just standing there, even if it is my sweet boy. Long story short, Terry is in Grayson's bed right now snuggled up.
I'm a little torn. I love the idea of him sleeping with us, but it's a habit I don't want to start. I want him to be able to sleep in his room by himself and then have him lay with us occassionally...not have him get so used to sleeping with us that he can't sleep by himself. And I think he's too little to expect him to be able to do that. We will see what happens tonight. Maybe he will have decided that daddy snores too loud and will want some peace and quiet :)

Do you have tickets????

Terry taught Grayson something months ago that to this day makes me laugh everytime he does it. Anytime you ask him "Do you have tickets?" this is what you will see. It's hilarious.

Weekend Recap

Sunday at the Bybee's was just as laid back as Saturday. We went to church then had lunch with some really fun friends and then off to Terry's parents for the boys to take a nap. We go there pretty much every Sunday so that our boys have a chance to get a good nap. And then when they get up, it's usually pool time :) It's the day that Grayson gets to spend with Grandmother and Papaw, and he loves it! Not to mention, Griffin always gets to take his nap with Papaw :) This week they were in stink-town (aka Borger), so we just went for a nap and then loaded up and headed to Six Flags.
I remember when I was younger and thought it was crazy when I would see people at Astroworld (I may be dating myself by saying that I actually went to Astroworld every summer growing up) pushing around strollers with little kids. I would think to myself "who brings their kids to a place like this?". Well, as me and Terry rolled up to the gates with our double stroller, I realized that we have become those people. Oh well.

Grayson had a great time riding the rides and went a little berzerk when it was time to leave. We had to drag him out crying. Literally. It was a combination of hunger and being tired. But I'm glad he had fun while he was there.

And, of course, Griffin just chilled the whole time.

On Monday, our alarm clocks didn't go off until 8:30 and 8:45...thank you boys for letting mama and daddy sleep late on our holiday off!! Then it was off to ride the DART to Northpark.

Grayson loved the train. It took forever for us to ride down there, walk around and then ride back. For.ever. I think it was like a 3 hour trip just to get to Northpark and back to the car. However long it was, it was long enough to wear them out. We were in the car for no more than 2 minutes before Grayson looked like this:

All in all, the Bybee's had a great Labor Day weekend....who can complain when you get to spend the days with these guys?
